I had come across Tubachris' build of Dark Trooper Battlefront which happens to be the 2.5 version of the Dark Trooper. Only scene in the games. I was hoping Chris would have been done with the bucket. He has made lots of progress and his most recent sculpt looks really good. I can't wait to see it finished. But getting bored out of mind and seeing everyone else building stuff or attempting to build stuff; I thought I would take my stab at it. What do I have to lose, alot of critism to get better. Should be fun. Not being a sculptor or artist of any kind. ** tell me if this is breaking the rules ** I took my Master Replicas CE stormtrooper bucket out of it's "clear packaging" out of the box. So not the bucket but the "clear stuff" that protects the bucket (its called plastic); and I used plaster of paris and paper towels to build me a mock up of a stormtrooper helmet. I needed a platform to build it on and wasn't going to piss away a stormtrooper bucket. Most of the original stormtrooper face got scraped off (look at the links of photobuckets). The heights are completely different, this bucket is alot more SQUATTIER. In the side profile shots you can see the old aerator areas hanging below my sculpt. It still needs alot thoguh. My goal is to finish it, no matter how horrible it looks and then rebuild it again. Main Points 1 I am trying to learn. 2 I know its not symmetrical. 3 I know its not done. 4 It might not be to scale. 5 I know this is suppose to be FUN. Here is what I have so far: (my wife asked me if I was building a goblin or an orc?) Feedback welcomed! Links of pics: 1st Day http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj164/J...Trooper%20Clay/2nd Day http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj164/J...per%20Clay%202/Just for GRINS;I decided to actually cast the whole packaging to build me another platform, incase I decide to start over. Platform MR CE Packaging for the. My favorite is with the light in it. http://s272.photobucket.com/albums/jj164/J...20Stormtrooper/

I was wondering where your "spawn Trooper" came from Rick "BOSS"
There seems to be NO short of talent in the 70th Explorers..........................I'm still in awe of Chris's Predator Costume.
If I had raw sculpting and costume making talent.........................I always wanted to make the "Alien" from the movies..........as the actual life size sculpts are WAYYYYYY out of my price range.

QUOTE (FireD @ Jan 18 2009, 11:56 PM) There was a PC game out a long while back called "Star Wars DARK FORCES" All about the begining of the Dark troopers I believe. Try and check it out, might have some good reference shots. On second thought the pics might be VERY pixilated. (It's an OLD game) I believe there where 3 phases of the Dark Trooper in the game. There are 3 types, and then there is Battlefront game version. I call them the 2.5 since they kind came in there. The first DT was skinny like the magna guards. I will have to locate the pics again. But there is actually 4 types, if you include the 2.5 in between DT2 and DT3.

Yep, the darkforces game has the original darktrooper, and was one of the best games I had when I was a kid lol
There were three phases, the first being a skinny droid weilding a sword and shield. The phase two is a beefier version of a stormtrooper, has a jetpack, but is still a droid. The phase 3, which is the most common, is an exo-power suit that General Mohc wears in the final battle. It's the largest of the three with it's own unique custom armor.
The battlefront series DT is really a mix between the phase 2 and three. You can see the similarities, for example, in the helmet swoop (present on the phase 3), the shoulders actually resembled each other somewhat. The "knobs" (I called them the 'franken bits') thats on the chest and the sides of the knees, are on the phase 3 as well. But I would say the biggest similarity would be in the shape and look of the jetpacks each have. The part that makes it more like a phase 2, would be the TK style hemet.
But I spoke to jangojedi, and as far as the actual make up of the suit parts, there is a grey area concerning wether certain parts are actually meant to be clone piece. I guess that is bound to happen with low-def 3d models..so I hope that battlefront 3 will clear somethings up!
