On behalf of CTN, we welcome you to our Clone community and wish you the best of luck on your clone quest. Please understand that CTN is affiliated with the 501st Legion and is geared towards the adult community who are interested in assembling Clone costumes. Should you find yourself here for other than costuming needs, CTN recommends you visit an alternate fan site geared towards Clones. The good news is there are plenty of fan sites for other than costuming activities geared towards Clonetroopers. Do not get frustrated should a thread that goes beyond costuming gets moderated.
So, you want to assemble a Clone costume, eh? In order to help "steer" you in the right direction for your clone needs, CT.N highly recommends the following:
1.
Follow these Rules. Make sure your first post about yourself counts. Tell us where you're from or a little about yourself, what costume you’re interested in, why you have joined the forum. Nine times out of ten, those people who only post vague or fragmented introduction posts do not get the information they need and they become frustrated with the results. Why? Because the members here have no idea what they are here to find. Do yourself a favor and make your first introduction post count. So jump into the Intro Area and say "HI"
CLICK ME2. In your profile these things are
required:
- Real "First" name
- Your birthdate
- Your real location (State or Country is all that is required)
Make sure and fill these items out on your profile.
3. Hang out and do your research. Pay particular attention to "work in progress" (WIP) postings. These posts will help give you an idea about the amount of time, money, and work needed to create a costume. They are also helpful when learning about various techniques, tools, materials, and colors utilized in each project. Please save the, "I want to make my own armor from scratch and want to know how" posts until you have done your research.
4. Use the search tool. The search function can be your best friend. The search tab is located along the top of the forum GUI. There are several fantastic posts by several of the members here that will help you in your clone quest. You may also want to take a look through the tutorial section found here.
SEARCH!5. Know your local garrison. There is a full listing of garrisons found on 501st.com
CLICK!. Your garrison mates are going to be the people you want to know in order to find your armor and helmet needs. Most of them have already done the research and know the ropes of finding their armor and helmet needs. They will also be a great resource for hands-on help building your armor. Most likely, they probably live relatively near to you…depending upon your geographical area.
6. Know your Garrison’s Garrison Membership Liaison (GML). These are the folks who are ultimately responsible for taking action on your costume application to get you approved for 501st membership. They have a wealth of information and can help you with knowing if your costume is acceptable or not. Do you have a question regarding what is and what is not accepted in the 501st Legion? Your Garrison GML will know. Send them a message and inquire about your questions. Once you begin work on your costume, CT.N will also be a valuable tool to help critique your work while you're working on it. One day, your Work In Progress (WIP) post will help another newbie in their quest to build armor.
7. Private messaging, or PM, is going to be essential in your search for your armor and helmet needs. The best advice is to look at the armor that appeals best to you and PM those members to see where their armor came from.
8. If all else fails, we do have a detachment armorer who can lend support.
9. Please no WTB (WANT TO BUY) posts... (until your a 501st member then only in the 501st section) I know it sounds harsh but if you follow the steps above you should not need to post a WTB.Costumes take time and patience, not to mention a few dollars and a lot of research. You will not have a costume overnight. Take your time and do not rush the process of creating a costume. Lastly, good luck on your clone quest!!!
