Hello again. I just wanted to verify a few of the parts that will be needed for me to (eventually) complete a set of Airborne Clone armor. I am guessing on this so any help would be appreciated.

For the body, leg and arm armor, is it the same as the armor worn by the normal clone troops from Ep3? Would, for example, OSCS armor be correct?

I also notice in the photos that there is a bandoleer across the chest, a box of some type around the left bicep, some type of attached bandoleer on the left shoulder, and a "Kama" (I think thats the correct term) around the waist. Am I missing anything in this list?

What type of gun would be used? The "Airborne" designation would suggest to me that a short barrel would be most appropriate however I have seen screen shots showing a much larger (DC15?) gun.

I have seen many posts about the shoes. Am I correct in believing that I should follow builds based on the ep3 clone troopers? For example, shoes with white soles, low top, with "armor" attached.

I also seen the posts about the under the armor wear and gloves. I am pretty sure this is standard.

Lastly, as I was glancing through some screen shots of the airborne troops I noticed something on the left breast of the armor. I wish I had the pic to attach but it is on another computer. There seemed to be some small red markings above the colored unit stripes (the orange ones). Is this really there or an artifact of the screen capture (or something else)? If it is really there, is it some type of rank insignia or battle "ribbons"?

Anyway, thanks for any help you can provide. I am excited to begin working on some armor.

(I realize that some of this may be in other post that refer to clone troopers (ie 41st, 501st, etc.) I guess I just want to verify that those posts apply to the CX airborne clone as well.)

Well you’re right for the most part. Except you left out the buckle and the straps attaching the buckle to the Kama. I think you missing the grayish right chest cover/thing. I don’t know what the official name is.

The red makes I have no clue, but send an e-mail to Karen Travis and ask her. She might have a clue and ive been meaning to do that for a while now.

Armor, gloves, boots, and under suit are all the same as the E III clone as far as I know. The only difference in the armor that ive seen (and I have not really studied the EIII armor) is a lip along the edge of the chest armor under the arms/along the side of the ribs. I’m at work so I can’t post the pic’s.

Ill try to repost my list that you needed for the AB trooper if I remember later on tonight. Someone send me a PM and remind me.lol

Welcome....where in the Panhandle are you located? There are quite a few clones (including one Airborne) in Pensacola

For any costume/501st related questions PLEASE do not bother Karen. She has complained in the past about this and its really not up to her what the 501st will accept for a costume.

As far as the armor, there is nothing different between Airborne and regular clone armor except for the helmet and accessories. All the hard parts are consistent.

I'll post some pics of my build soon for your reference. But instead of posting them here, I'll try to answer some of your questions in other threads within the CX forum. The CTN folks have done a good job in dividing up this particular costume into manageable parts, and probably best to keep things consistent and organized-like.

Yes, same. Difference is Airborne just has additional accessories and straps. Helmet is different obviously.

DC-15A 'Long' Rifle and DC-15S 'Short' Rifle are used.

Thanks to both of you for the help. I really appreciate it.

(I usually don't PM or bug people I don't know very well so I will avoid emailing Karen. I understand that it can be odd and annoying getting random messages from strangers.)

IanL, I am in Panama City. I have looked at the Florida 501st message boards but seem to have a problem signing up on them. I sent an email to the admin but have yet to hear back. Other then this board I have also joined the clone empire one as it seems to have a great deal of useful information on it as well.

Thank you again.
